I made a quick stop into the much-maligned Central Square Goodwill, just to see what Holiday-themed goodies I could find. Hoping to find Christmas and other December holiday gear, may I say that I was not disappointed.
First, I found this tiny, tiny Nativity Set - no more than 2 1/4" high by about 1/2" wide. It's probably destined for my etsy shop:
For you last minute crafters, an assortment of faux "bulbs" from a company that is still in business ..
.. and a packet of 12 plastic reindeer with wire stakes, perfect for a holiday cake or a wreath.
Entertaining, and worried about your glass tumblers being broken? I found these 8 plastic Old Fashioned glasses, some of them new in their individual sleeves, and still in their original, if somewhat battered, boxes:
I was hoping for some more Boonton Ware, as I found a couple of months ago, but instead found a plethora of Holiday wares. Happy Hunting, all!
I have quite a few of those tiny nativity sets packed away in my Christmas box. They were often handed out to all the children after the Christmas program at church. I think one of them glows in the dark, lol.
ReplyDeleteI am actually amazed that several thrift stores in this area have offered Christmas goods at half off already. Not GW- they may get to 25% off the day before. There is just so much "stuff" that it takes a good eye to find the true treasures.
ReplyDeleteLove those reindeer! You're right. There really are a ton of holiday things out there in thrift stores right now. I know people are probably bringing more things in right now as they decorate, but sometimes I wonder if thrift shops hold holiday items until that time of year and then put them out.
ReplyDeleteLove the tiny plastic nativity, very unique!
ReplyDeleteThat tiny nativity is so cute. You know I saw a post where a lady made a tiny nativity like yours into a homemade snow globe. Glass jar with lid, glue it to the lid, fill glass with water and glitter, voila!
ReplyDeleteMy mom used to have one of those nativity scenes-still does I guess though she refuses to put up a tree...It wasn't quite like that but close enough and tiny!! I love that thing! Thanks for linking up to the Penny Worthy Project. Hope to see you next week!
ReplyDeleteOne word frees us of all the weight and pain in life. That word is love.
ReplyDelete~oh...what fun festive pieces you came across...l♥ve the bulbs and those plastic reighndeer...we have a few but not on a strand like this...many happy treasure hunting days to you and warm holiday wishes~
ReplyDeleteI know the GW stores around here save stuff for Christmas. I bought a Christmas tin and it was dated 4/25/10. What I wonder is, what do they do with the stuff that doesn't sell, store it or send it to the outlet?
